Applicant FAQ
Questions we frequently ask applicants
Very friendly, informative, and welcoming. Everyone gather before 8am in the lobby of the hotel they do it in. Sit down inside the conference room at 8am, everyone introduces themself, FLL chief introduces himself and does presentation on Spirit followed by Q&A. Then they play games while they pull people 1 by 1 for interviews. They did fingerprinting as well because it was a quick turnaround time before expected class dates.
Great experience, very friendly recruiters. They want to hire you. Your attitude during the interview is the only thing standing in between you and the job.
Great.
We played a lot of games and as long as you participated and had fun, that’s what they’re looking for.
Exactly like others described. Short company history. Explain yourself in two minutes. Games while you wait for your interview. Lunch was provided. I was the second to last to interview of 26 and my interview lasted 15 minutes with a chief pilot and HR rep. Rushed through basic HR questions, some Jepp plate questions then multiple TMAAT questions pertaining to airline situations. I was released when I got back to the holding room and got the thanks but no thanks a few weeks later.
Great overall experience. From the communication surrounding the potential Hurricane disrupting the interview to the atmosphere they create when you’re down there, it was nothing short of fantastic. They really do make you feel at ease and like you’re part of the team already. I had a pretty large interview group (38), so while we all waited to interview, we had a series of presentations from CP’s and ALPA. We also played team games throughout the day which really loaded up and remaining tension for those waiting to interview. The actual interview itself lasted approx. 40 mins. It was one HR rep and one CP. I was close to last to interview, but the two of them remained as cheerful and seemingly excited to interview me as I’d imagine they started off their day. Couldn’t be more excited to join Spirit.
Two regional airlines (total of almost 6 years regional airline experience), 2 years chief instructor at a 141 flight school, international ferry experience, some 135 charter.
Great experience and a really laid back interview. I am looking forward to getting started.
Very laid back. They want you to participate in the games and relax when you go back for the interview.
They start with introductions and company overview. Then get into the face to face soon after. While you wait you play group games. They feed you lunch. Also there is a pilot we had a Union pilot in the waiting room with us playing games and answering questions about schedules contract etc. Best thing you can do is relax and be yourself. The know you can fly and are looking for quality character people.
Great experience! Can’t wait to get started.
Really relaxed interview process but they are trying to get you off your toes. Enjoy it but remain vigilant. They’re still watching you.
Went to meet the chiefs in Orlando, had 2 pilots submit internal recommendations, and just hit 3,000hrs total time.
A few captains put in letters of recommendation for me
Applied and received a phone interview invite email two days later.
Multiple letters of rec from current employees.
I had two internal recs and I contacted a recruiter directly via LinkedIn

Just relax, be friendly, conversational, and a good listener. The best interview experience I’ve had and they care more about getting to know you as a person rather than the technical side. They know you can fly, they want to know if you’re going to be a good team player who will be committed to the company.
They asked you to rate yourself as a pilot 1 to 10 and ten is not the correct answer.
10 implies that you think you know everything about Aviation.
They asked me if I was going to apply to Delta or any other Airlines. why I wanted to be at Spirit and why i was leaving my current Airline.
It is a very laid back interview process. If you overthink it, you wont make it. Just go with the flow, loosen up and have fun. During the interview there are group games that they want you to play. Have fun and play along. I found it enjoyable and we were all laughing ourselves to tears at times. Don’t forget that even though you all might be having fun, there are several company representatives in that room with you who are evaluating you at all times. I feel that this is where the true interview is. They know that you have skills and talent, they are hiring your personality so let it show!
Had several checkride failures to explain but everything is straightforward.
The application online is a bit fickle.
The application is very odd. My first app glitched and never showed completed. My advice is to do the whole thing from start to finish in one shot including the personality test. Also, it may or may not make a difference but try to refrain from the back button on the application.
None. Pretty easy and understandable.
tell me about a time you had an emergency and that was more or less the only technical question
What is the highest obstacle on this Jepp plate?
There was no job knowledge test.
The hardest tell me about a time question was when you disagreed with a crew member or a person within your company and what did you do.
